Mr. Cottrell has authored articles in this area of the law for COMPUTERWORLD, P.C. Magazine, The Computer Lawyer, The Profit Center, and others. He has been an invited lecturer for meetings before user groups, CPCU seminars, industry and academic societies, the Society for Technical Documentation, and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Companies. He taught the course "Computer Law" at the University of Delaware from 1988 to 1991.
